meI know, I know.  It seems too early, but trust me, the Season is already upon us and that means it’s time to start ramping up the staff recommendations.  People need ideas, and that’s what an independent bookstore is: the place where we keep the ideas.

Not sure what to get Dad this year?  Wondering what’s new in the way of YA?  Need something for your Aunt Faye in the way of crochet, or existential philosophy, come to that?  (Don’t know the woman personally, so you’ll have to help a little.  We’ll do the rest.)

And even if you can’t make it into the store, you can always order online.  Every title listed here should have a link to our inventory, as well as links to reviews, interesting articles, authors websites, and other information that may help you decide if these recommendations are right for you and or the people you love.

So, come to the bookstore if you can.  Our booksellers are waiting to help.  And check this space regularly for more Holiday recommendations.  That in mind, let me kick things off with three things from my own wish list:

The Complete Works of Primo Levi, edited by Ann Goldstein, ISBN# 9780871404565, $100.00 from Liveright.

Four Novels of the 1920s, by Edith Wharton, ISBN# 9781598534535, $40.00 from the Library of America.

Later Novels, by James Baldwin, ISBN# 9781598534542, also from the Library of America.
